Good news, City sees vacancy rate for businesses drop in the past 6 months. The Corner and Barracks Road full. Downtown drops below 4%.

BAR approves new wooden deck on 5th St for outdoor cafe at the soon to be opened Commonwealth restaurant which used to be the A&N building.
The City will be paving Stadium Road from Alderman to Emmet beginning Tuesday, July 19th. Expect some pretty big delays.

Charlottesville Area Transit (CAT) has introduced the first hybrid buses to be used by public transit in C’Ville. The buses are powered by a combination of electric and diesel technology helping to attain the standard of a green city the council vision has set forth. CAT plans the replace its entire fleet of clean diesel buses with hybrids in the next 10 years.
On Wednesday January 26th the City of Charlottesville, Albemarle County, and UVA are hosting a community workshop to learn and discuss more about impacts, opportunities, and initiatives regarding energy management strategies for the greater Charlottesville area. The World Trade Center steel that will grace the future Fontaine Fire Station is scheduled to be picked up next week. Provided the weather allows the journey from JFK Airport will begin Wednesday January 26th and will end at CFD HQ the following morning.

The City will be replacing a water line along JPA from Maywood Ln to Monroe Ln. This is an big project and will likely last into spring.
City Public Works crews will close access to the sidewalk on the east side of the Belmont Bridge, vehicular access will not be affected.

Belmont Bridge Sidewalk to Close
Beginning November 18th, City Public Works crews will close access to the sidewalk on the east side of the Belmont Bridge. There will be no pedestrian access to that portion of the bridge but vehicular access will not be affected.
